Abstract

(The 1944 Education Act of Great Britain required special educational treatment to be provided for handicapped children, and included in these was the group known as maladjusted pupils defined as “pupils who show evidence of emotional instability or psychological disturbance and who require special educational treatment in order to effect their personal social or educational readjustment.”consequence some Local Education Authorities acting with the School Medical Service have established day or residential centres for the treatment of such maladjusted children.
