Abstract

Nowadays, ship energy efficiency optimization attracts increasing attention because of the high requirement for energy conservation and emission reduction. Compared with single ship, shipping companies are more concerned with the energy efficiency of the entire ship fleets. However, fleet energy efficiency is influenced by multiple factors, such as environmental factors and port operation as well as transport planning. Therefore, it is significant to study the optimization method of fleet energy efficiency considering multiple influencing factors. In this paper, an energy efficiency optimization method for inland ship fleet considering multiple influencing factors is proposed to optimize the fleet energy efficiency. Firstly, a fleet energy efficiency optimization model is established, and then the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is adopted to solve the established model to obtain the optimal sailing speed of each ship in each sailing leg. Finally, a case study is carried out to demonstrate the validity of this optimization method. The results indicate that the proposed method could determine the optimal sailing speeds for each ship in different sailing legs, thus to improve fleet energy efficiency and reduce CO <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> emissions effectively.
