Abstract

An endogenous substance(s) in methanolic extracts of avocado fruit was found to inhibit the activity of IAA in the wheat coleoptile bioassay, and the activity of kinetin in the soybean bioassay. Preliminary results show increased inhibition during fruit growth. Similar inhibition was found in extracts of other plants.
