Abstract

Current neurobiological theories of addiction are often dual models that propose that impairments in reward/approach related behavior and cognitive control underlie chronic drug use. Some models also suggest involvement of negative emotionality. However, few have evaluated these models empirically across different substance use disorders (SUD). Here, we used a data-driven dimension reduction approach to describe the complete phenotypic space assessed in a large community sample containing 30% individuals with SUD.
