Abstract

Objective: the main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between using motivation of Internet language and intercultural communication ability of college students, and studied how to improve intercultural communication ability by using internet language. Methods: SPSS 24.0 was used to analyze the collective data, including variance analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis. The relationship between intercultural communication ability and the using motivation of college students (n=215) in Jilin Province was analyzed. Results: practical motivation was the most important dimension of motivation in college students' use of Internet language. In addition, the tendency to express their emotions was not high. In terms of intercultural communication ability, college students in Jilin Province had strong cultural awareness, but lack of intercultural communication practice. There were significant variations between motivation of using network language and intercultural communication ability on age, grade and gender (p<; 0.01), but no significant difference in net age (p>0.05); there was a significant positive correlation between intercultural communication ability and using motivation of Internet language of college students (p<; 0.01); the using motivation of Internet Language could explain 75.2% of intercultural communication ability. Conclusion: motivation of using network language had a significant impact on intercultural communication ability, which could be improved by stimulating practical motivation.
