Abstract

The increase of total consumption of rural residents and the optimization and upgrading of consumption structure are the key factors to smooth the great domestic cycle and expand domestic demand. Based on the data of China household Finance Survey in 2017, this paper studies the impact of Internet use on rural residents' consumption behavior. The results show that Internet use plays a positive role in promoting the increase of total household consumption and structural optimization. Internet use ultimately contributes to consumption and consumption upgrading by increasing household income which is the most import factor to improve consumer purchasing power.
