Abstract

This study is based on the theory of “Production-Oriented Approach” (POA) proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang. It relies on the online course “Practical College Oral English” on the “Cool Learning Liaoning” platform. Using the POA theory as a foundation, relevant course designs were developed, and a blended teaching approach was implemented, combining online and offline components. During the fall semester of the academic year 2023, two groups of students, an experimental group and a control group, were selected for a cross-institutional elective course in “Practical College Oral English”. Two different teaching methods, POA and non-POA, were employed, and data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS. This empirical research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the POA theory in the context of a blended teaching model.
