Abstract

Since 2019, the number of high school graduates in Korea has been smaller than the college admission capacity. Thus, it has been suffering from a shortage of college students. Additionally, as many young people have difficulty finding jobs after graduating from college, there is a wide variation in the admission competition rate according to the employment rate. This phenomenon will intensify in the near future, and measures are needed to resolve it. This paper aims to empirically analyze data on the college and major selections of high school students. In the existing research, the high school students college and major choices were analyzed through questionnaire surveys. However, in this paper, an empirical study on college and major selections is conducted using actual statistical data. The results of this paper are expected to be helpful for two-year colleges in attracting new students.
