Abstract

Relatively little information is available concerning the structure and decision processes of the various components of the conventions and corporate meetings market. The research described in this article studied the manner in which associations select sites at which to hold their conventions. A descriptive overview of the site selection process is discussed. Then factors influencing the choice of a convention site are provided, and structure of influence within the site selection decision process is reviewed.
