Abstract

In this paper we evaluate the performance of some parametric procedures for dealing with non-random attrition. We exploit the availability of refreshment samples to assess the impact of attrition on time constant and time varying regression coefficients. We show that the restrictions that are implicit in some correction procedures may prevent detection of non-random attrition. Relaxing these restrictions helps, but the effect of attrition is still underpredicted.
