Abstract

AbstractA simple pressure‐explicit equation of state for gases and vapours is presented which contains eight empirical constants in addition to the gas constant. It has been applied to four substances and reproduces their behaviour very well over a wide range of temperature (several hundred degrees), density (up to critical) and pressure (maximum 600 to 900 bar). For application above critical temperature only, a shorter version of the equation is presented for four more substances. Simple expressions are derived for entropy and internal energy.
