Abstract

This paper describes read-out electronics for Quartz Tuning Fork (QTF) sensor for monitoring UV rays using Programmable System on Chip and Virtual Instrument programming in Lab VIEW, a graphical language. The QTF sensor has wider range of applications like low temperature measurement, electromagnetic radiation measurement like visible, UV, IR and particle radiation etc. While interacting with measurement variables, QTF undergoes shift in frequency that has to be measured precisely. The embedded PSoC design excites the QTF and measures it frequency through the counter and timer internal block programmed within it. The shift in resonance frequency has been measured and transmitted using internal block UART. A menu driven graphical user interface program written in Lab VIEW does on-line acquisition of QTF data, on-line plotting, saving the data in user specified file path has been carried out. UV Rays is passed through the QFT, thus shift in frequency is measure with high precision successfully.
