Abstract

A sensorless speed tracking control for permanent magnet synchronous motors has been considered in this paper. In particular, a set of polynomial equations is derived from the output of the electrical subsystem in order to compute online the motor parameters and the initial angular position of the rotor. Then, a sliding mode-based control strategy, coupled with an observer using only electrical signals, guarantees the robust asymptotical tracking of a reference speed without measuring rotor velocity and position. The proposed approach has been experimentally tested on an embedded board.
