Abstract

Abstract An electrostatic precipitator has been developed which deposits liquid droplets from fog on water-sensitive film for later analysis of droplet size distribution and chloride content. Current design criteria and operating characteristics are presented. The instrument has been used locally in the collection of natural fogs and ocean spray. Partial results of these investigations are presented together with laboratory evaluation of instrument alteration of droplet size.
