Abstract

Tunability of lumped-element bandpass filters on series LC-tanks with variable capacitors is analyzed. The filters are shown capable to tune continuously the center frequency and bandwidth. Conditions and constraints for keeping absolute bandwidth (ABW) and fractional bandwidth (FBW) constant are presented. Design of a three-pole varactor-tuned bandpass filter that allows a continuous tuning of the center frequency and bandwidth as well as keeping either ABW or FWB constant is demonstrated.
