Abstract

EPR studies of pure [Ag(di(amH)sar)](NO 3) 4 and the same doped into [Zn(di(amH)-sar)](NO 3) 4 for temperatures of 5–300 K show that both exhibit dynamic and static Jahn-Teller effects above and below their respective Jahn-Teller transition temperatures. Spin Hamiltonian parameters were obtained by computer simulation of experimental spectra. Moreover, pure and doped lattices exhibit cooperative and localized Jahn-Teller effects respectively. From the g-tensors of the pure polycrystalline sample, there is clear evidence of rapid electronic exchange between two inequivalent Ag(II) sites.
