Abstract

The problem of an elastoplastic rotating annulus is analyzed completely. The analysis is based on the assumption of plastically incompressible material obeying Hooke's Law in the elastic region and yielding according to Tresca's yield criterion. The plastic displacements are found through the flow rule associated with Tresca's yield criterion. The boundary conditions are satisfied for the deformed boundaries. The equations involved are non-linear and a solution is found through a perturbation method. The displacement solution resulting from the use of the flow rule is new, and it is shown that in some cases it is important to satisfy the boundary conditions for the deformed boundaries.
