Abstract

The Maxwell’s equations, coupled to the mechanical equations of equilibrium, and the mechanical equations of motion, coupled to the equations of static electric and magnetic field, are studied here based on the standard spaces of the physical presentation. The complete set of uncoupled electromagnetic wave equations and elastic wave equations in magnetoelectroelastic solids is deduced. The results show that the number of electromagnetic waves and elastic waves in magnetoelectroelastic solids is determined by both the subspaces of electromagnetically anisotropic media and ones of mechanically anisotropic media. Based on these laws, we discuss the propagation behavior of electromagnetic waves and elastic waves in the transverse isotropic magnetoelectroelastic material poled in x3.
