An Efficient Synthesis of a Hexasaccharide — The Repeating Unit of the Exopolysaccharide from Cryptococcus neoformans Serovar A.

Abstract

Abstract A general method for the synthesis of 2-xylose or glucuronic acid branched (1→3)-linked mannose oligosaccharides has been developed. As a typical example, the synthesis of the methyl glycoside of β- d -Glc p A-(1→2)-α- d -Man p -(1→3)-[β- d -Xyl p -(1→2)-]α- d -Man p -(1→3)-[β- d -Xyl p -(1→2)-]α- d -Man p, the repeating unit of the exopolysaccharide from Cryptococcus neoformans serovar A, was achieved in a regio- and stereoselective manner.
