Abstract

A general method for the synthesis of 2-xylose or glucuronic acid branched (1→3)-linked mannose oligosaccharides has been developed. As a typical example, the synthesis of the methyl glycoside of β- d-Glc pA-(1→2)-α- d-Man p-(1→3)-[β- d-Xyl p-(1→2)-]α- d-Man p-(1→3)-[β- d-Xyl p-(1→2)-]α- d-Man p, the repeating unit of the exopolysaccharide from Cryptococcus neoformans serovar A, was achieved in a regio- and stereoselective manner.
