Abstract

Compared with 2D video, 3D video could bring the immersive and realistic experiences. So the 3D technology is a research topic following the voice, data and 2D information technology. For this technical study, video quality assessment is an essential section to measure the performance of 3D processing technology. In this paper, we propose an efficient video quality metric (VQM3D) to evaluate the quality of 3D compressed video. The proposed video quality metric is presented by availably using the color (monocular) video information and the depth information. And the experimental results confirmed its efficiency by comparing with the widespread used quality metrics SSIM and the state-of-art 3D video quality metric-Perceptual Quality Metric (PQM).
