Abstract

In this paper, we propose an efficient preamble design based on comb-type pilots (CTP) for channel estimation in filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) systems. The proposed preamble is similar to the CTP widely adopted in OFDM systems, within a specified window. Thus, it enables OFDM-like channel estimation with low complexity for FBMC/OQAM and removes the inter-symbol interference/inter-carrier interference in FBMC/OQAM channel estimation. Moreover, the proposed preamble design can be easily extended to support multiple antennas (MIMO). Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed preamble length could be very close to those of conventional preamble design such as the interference cancellation method, and the channel estimation with the proposed preamble could obtain good performance both in single antenna and MIMO systems.
