Abstract

[Abstract] In regard to the design method of output multiplexers using waveguide manifold, it is well known that a computer-aided optimization design is effective for obtaining desirable performance of the output multiplexer to manage a lot of design parameters. This paper proposes an efficient optimal design method of waveguide output multiplexer with the complicated arrangement of the channels by decreasing the design parameters. We pay attention to BPF design parameters corresponding to contiguous and non-contiguous cases and find that BPF coupling coefficients are classified into contiguous and non-contiguous cases even though the numbers of channels are changed. This procedure is as follows. First, the two kinds of BPF coupling coefficients of contiguous and noncontiguous cases are used for the initial values to decrease the design parameters. Second, in order to design of multiplexer with complicated frequency arrangement of channels, the optimization will be done with only changing the length of the waveguide manifold length. The design method of the proposal decreases the optimization design parameters to 1/3 or less compared with the conventional method, and has features of decreasing iteration for the optimization. Finally, fabrication and test results of a waveguide output multiplexer for satellite application are shown.
