Abstract

Transportation problems are a certain class of mathematical programming problem that arises frequently in various practical applications. But in real life, the transportation parameters may not be precise always due to lack of information, environmental factors, imprecision in judgment etc. Therefore, it is very interesting to deal with transportation problems under uncertainty. The best way to denote the imprecise data is fuzzy number. In the literature, there are several methods to find the optimal intuitionistic fuzzy cost of intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem of type-2 i.e., availability and demands taken as real numbers and the transportation cost of unit product taken as intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to find intuitionistic fuzzy optimal solution of intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem of type-2. The proposed method is quite easy and achieve its goal speedily as compare to the existing methods in the literature. There is no need to find the initial basic feasible solution, proposed method directly gives the optimal solution. Numerical example illustrate the methodology.
