Abstract

This paper presents a new methodology for handling load flow problem in distribution as well as transmission network. The methodology is based on backward/forward sweep method in which voltage regulated nodes are considered. Z bus matrix is constructed through a straightforward building procedure which is used to model line parameters. In the case of networks with two or more PV nodes, an approximate iterative solution is employed in order to fix voltage magnitude of such nodes at specified values. This solution uses network information to evaluate reactive power injections and modify bus voltages. The proposed method is examined for IEEE 30-bus test system and a 33-bus distribution network. The obtained results for IEEE 30-bus test system in comparison with NR method admit a remarkable accuracy with a significant convergence speed. Convergence characteristics of the proposed method in 33-bus distribution network are presented.
