Abstract

In this paper, it is proposed an efficient GUI for the treatment of two-dimensional physical geometric models and the generation of mixed meshes of boundary and finite elements, respectively, BEM and FEM. The methodology adopted is to use the BEMLBA2D GUI, a special purpose educational program, aiming to illustrate the functionality and main characteristics of the hybrid modeling. The idea is to generate the FEM mesh, using Delaunay triangles, from the BEM mesh. The verification of the methodology is attested by specific examples of complex geometry with holes, inclusions, and cracks, aiming to validate the use of mixed meshes.
