Abstract

This paper presents a design method based on equivalent circuit model (ECM) to efficiently construct the antenna structure for the tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA) with assigned impedance matching performance. It is noted that this method can be even applied to the TCDA with the dipoles using non-standard shape. To discuss the scalability of this method, two antenna structures using difform dipoles are respectively optimized by the ECM setting different goals. The HFSS simulation results of the two optimized antenna structures are respectively in accordance with their ECM results, while this phenomenon indicates that the proposed method has good scalability and accuracy. In addition, the parametric analysis of the two antenna structure is proceeded to show that the ECM can basically maintain the accuracy when the variables are changed.
