Abstract

In this work, for the first time, ternary Ni-Co-Mn oxide (NCM) has been utilized for corrosion prevention application. Ni/NCM composite coatings prepared through the DC deposition technique and evaluated the corrosion resistance behavior. The prepared NCM portrays the spinel structure. The Ni/NCM composite is perceived in (111), (200), and (220) crystal orientation. The fabricated Ni/NCM composite coatings divulge microcubes decorated pyramid-like morphology. The Electrodeposited Ni/NCM composite exhibits Ecorr and jcorr values of −302.9 mV vs. SCE and 2.419 × 10−7 A cm−2 respectively, which is lower than the MS and Ni. The composite coatings with minor quantities of NCM (2.89 At%) particles display superior corrosion resistance behavior.
