Abstract

Voltage flicker is an important aspect of power quality because of pervasiveness in industrial systems. However, flicker mitigation is one of the most challenging power quality problems from the mitigation prospective because of its randomness. This article introduces an improvement for the DSTATCOM control technique to reduce the instantaneous flicker level (IFL) so that it is lower than noticeable level recognized by IEEE and IEC standards. Moreover, it is demonstrated that the proposed control algorithm is effective and simple, and its performance is verified by digital simulation results.
