Abstract

This paper presents a robust control algorithm for voltage disturbance extraction and mitigation. The proposed mitigating device is the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). The proposed DVR can compensate the voltage unbalance and mitigate voltage harmonics in the time of normal operation in addition to its basic functions for mitigating different voltage sags. The suggested control algorithm employs the adaptive perceptron to effectively and adaptively track and extract the fundamental, most common voltage harmonics, and voltage unbalance which includes negative and zero sequence voltage drops. Digital simulation results are obtained using PSCAD/EMTDC to prove robustness of the proposed ideas, and to verify the effectiveness of the mitigating device.
