Abstract

This paper presents a new class of four-point iterative methods for finding simple roots of nonlinear equations. The class is constructed by adding the simple structured fourth step to the previously developed three-point eighth-order methods, with the cost of additional function evaluation. As a result, the new class is of the fourteenth order of convergence and possesses better efficiency index than optimal eighth order methods. The efficiency and applicability are demonstrated on several test problems.
