Abstract

In this study, we proposed an efficient channel estimation method based on discrete Fourier transform for the polarization division multiplexing (PDM) and 64 order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) WDM transmission system. The spectral efficiency of the system and the proposed algorithm to improved the performance, such as the robustness of the transmission impairments, of the system were studied. the simulation results show that our improved DFT based algorithm achieves excellent performance with relatively low complexity.
