Abstract
In order to meet the requirements of distributed distribution and automatic load management of DC systems, the adoption of modular and intelligent solid-state power controller (SSPC) covers the current trend of DC power supply and distribution systems. Result from the characteristics of limited volume DC systems, large capacitive loads will dramatically pull down the bus voltage at the instant of connection. This problem will greatly limit the capacitive load carrying capacity of limited volume DC systems. In this paper, the current limiting characteristics of SSPC for limited volume DC system are designed by changing parasitic parameters of MOSFET and reducing gate voltage driving of MOSFET. The 28V prototype is used to verify the protection capability of the busbar power supply when the large capacitive load is turned on.
