Abstract
In this paper we propose a new algorithm to handle medical diagnostic problems, where the fuzzy production rules are used for knowledge representation. The algorithm can be executed very efficiently. If there are p symptom features and the knowledge base of a medical diagnostic system contains n fuzzy production rules, then the time complexity of the algorithm is O(np).
