Abstract

An effective shear modulus reconstruction technique isdescribed which uses ultrasonic strain measurements for diagnosis ofsuperficial tissues, i.e. our previously developed ultrasonic strainmeasurement and shear modulus reconstruction methods are combined andenhanced. The technique realizes very low computational load, yetyields fairly high quantitativeness, high stability and spatialresolution, and large dynamic range. The suitability of the method isdemonstrated on in vitro pork ribs and in vivo humanbreast tissues (fibroadenoma and scirrhous carcinoma).
