Abstract

A magnetic field tuning method that can reduce the errors in the field integral of hybrid IVUs was developed and tested. This method was based on precision machining of ferromagnetic poles, with dimensions of machining determined by 3D FEM magnetic simulations and optimization codes. This method was implemented in the tuning of two hybrid in-vacuum undulators at SSRF, with improvements that agreed well with the expectations obtained.
