Abstract

AbstractThis paper proposes an effective beamformer for a half-wave dipole uniform linear array (DULA) based on binary bat algorithm (BBA) by controlling complex weights (both amplitudes and phases) of each element in the array. The proposed beamformer can mitigate interfering signals by imposing nulls at the direction of interfering signals while maintaining the main lobe and sidelobe levels. To demonstrate this ability, the proposal will be evaluated on several scenarios and compared to a beamformer based on binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO).KeywordsBeamformingBinary bat algorithmOptimum array processingInterference mitigationArray pattern synthesis
