Abstract

This paper reports the results of an investigation into the educational and occupational backgrounds of Methodist local preachers in Scotland. The findings of the survey, conducted during October 1996, show that the current cohort is educated to a higher level and more likely to be employed in managerial and professional jobs than the general population.
