Abstract

This study was conducted to describe some ecological aspects of gazelles. Two species of gazelles were recorded in the western and southern regions of Saudi Arabia: the Mountain gazelle Gazella gazella cora and the Farasan (Arabian) gazelle, G. arabica. Mountain gazelles live in hilly districts with abundant plant cover while Farasan gazelles live in regions of limestone rocks and Acacia groves. Mountain gazelles are found in small herds (3–6) while, Farasan gazelles are in herds of large numbers (10–15). The different feed plants of both gazelles were identified. Conservation measures are mentioned.
