Abstract
A study of the observed changes in the F-layer during an annular eclipse of the Sun at an equatorial station is presented. Values of the effective electron loss coefficients α and β are found; and some properties of these parameters are deduced. Changes of layer structure during the formation of an F1 1 2 - layer are shown. A measurement of the total columnar electron content during the eclipse demonstrates a pronounced eclipse effect in the topside ionosphere.
