Abstract

In order to be inscribed to World Cultural Heritage, the evitable conditions, outstanding universal value, integrity and authenticity should be fulfilled. Although 28 industrial heritages of Kyushu-Yamaguchi area became the fortress of the industrial exploitation of Japanese modernization through integration of a nation and a private capital, they were also spots that tens of thousands victims of forced laborers suffered from declivitous immigrant and compulsive labor. The logical clarification on the forced labors suppressed under the inscription of World Cultural Heritage should be requested officially on this crucial juncture. This research investigates the essential qualifications and conditions to be a World Cultural Heritage and analyze the incongruity of the Inscription issue on Kyushu-Yamaguchi industrial heritages and give a critical perspective to reconsider the value of laborers in Industrial Heritage.
