Abstract

A method is presented for searching for a hypertorus symmetry axis by means of the alignmentof distant objects. This offers greater sensitivity than previously proposed object-based methodsthat rely on accurate true distances. When it is applied to the catalogue of objects withz > 1, wefind no evidence for a compact dimension. We deduce a lower limit on the compact dimension size,D > 0.9 of the distance to the cosmic horizon. This is consistent with independent constraints fromthe recent analysis of the WMAP microwave background data.
