Abstract
We have studied an autonomous information engine model where the system can interact with two thermal reservoirs, hot and cold. The system is coupled to a memory register (tape) and a work source. The performance of the engine depends on these two sources along with the bath. The system can perform three different functionalities: engine, refrigeration and erasure. More surprisingly, the system can exhibit any two of these behaviors simultaneously! We have also showed that these behaviors are consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. Moreover, the efficiency of the engine and the coefficient of performance of the refrigerator can go beyond the Carnot limit.
