Abstract

A buoy used as a platform for in situ devices to accumulate dissolved and particulate organic material from seawater is described. A thermo-electric generator, fuelled by an internal supply of propane, provides electric power for 5 weeks of continuous operation. A blank determination proves that the system is clean and may be used for the analysis of organic trace constituents of seawater in the ppb range.
