Abstract

A camera system for photographing short movie sequences of wildlife activity is described. The system consists of an electrically actuated 16-mm movie camera, a photoelectric cell trigger, and a light source for illuminating the photographic field. This camera system has been used to study noc- turnal mammal activity, particularly raccoon (Procyon lotor) and skunk (Mephitis mephitis) move- ments in and out of large southwestern bat caves. It can be used with ordinary white light or with infrared light.
