Abstract

With the development of automotive electronics, further requirements for the comfort and safety of the vehicles during driving have been aroused in recent years. As a new adaptive headlamp adjustment technique, Automatic Headlamp Leveling System (ALS) is an intelligent light leveling system which can provide better driving experience and safety assurance for drivers. The ALS can collect the front and back height information of the automotive body, then adjust the pitch angle to maintain a fixed lighting sight. The analog height signals are converted to the digital signals by the AD converters and transferred to the MCU. The MCU then calculate the adjustment angle of the front lamp according to the difference of the front and back height. CAN and LIN buses are introduced to send instructions to the headlight LED matrix to drive the motors to realize the automatic leveling functions. The leveling functions on flat and ramp road are analyzed, and the Numerical simulation is carried out by MATLAB. The system is integrated and tested on a S32K148 MCU platform. This automatic leveling system can be further used in the automotive headlamp applications.
