Abstract

An apparatus is described for the continuous automatic determination of hypophosphite in a complex electroless nickel-plating solution. After catalytic oxidation of the hypophosphite, the evolved hydrogen is burned and the flame temperature used as a measure of the hydrogen and hence of the hypophosphite. The results are unaffected by changes in concentration of other ions present in the solution. Temperature variations in the range 20° to 70° produce only minor effects.
