Abstract

A NEW oil refinery is now in production at Altona, Australia, with an output capacity of 15,000,000 gallons per annum. It is producing lubricants for industrial purposes, bitumen for road making, distillate fuel oils and petrol. It is claimed that sufficient lubricating oil will be produced in this plant to supply 50 per cent of Australia's requirements in the industrial field. The production of petrol will not proceed, at present, in such quantities as will affect the petrol rationing in Australia, although expansion in this driection will be made in the future.
