Abstract

Introduction: Patients undergoing orthognathic surgery need to be fully informed of the risks of surgery, one of which is injury to the sensory branches of the trigeminal (V) nerve, resulting in temporary or permanent paraesthesia. This audit looked at the compliance with post-operative facial sensation data collection over the last 3 years and analysed the risk of paraesthesia following orthognathic surgery over a 1-year period.
