Abstract
A 12-year-old boy presented a submandibular tumor which contained acid-fast bacilli in the pus. The microorganisms were classified as “anonymous” tubercle bacilli, Mycobacterhan balnei. The patient also showed a positive Pirquet reaction. Diagnosed as tuberculosis of the cervical lymph glands, the tumor was treated with streptomycin, PAS and isoniazid with good effect. Mycobacterium balnei occurs frequently in swimming pools causing “swimming pool granulomas”.
